Brexit Institute Wins Funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs

The DCU Brexit Institute has won a significant grant from the Communicating Europe Initiative (CEI) of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs for 2024. This funding has been awarded for the development of a massive open online course (MOOC), which will follow on from the Institute’s previous MOOC titled ‘The European Union: Crisis and Recovery’. This is the fifth year in a row that the DCU Brexit Institute has been awarded funding under the CEI.

The MOOC will help increase public awareness of the role of the EU in people’s lives by providing an expert-led learning course on major European issues. In particular, the MOOC will explore the evolution of the EU in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. It will also examine the establishment of the Next Generation EU (NGEU) Recovery Fund and discuss the avenues for further European integration, 20 years after the 2004 enlargement, and 25 years after the adoption of the euro and Economic & Monetary Union.
