Launch of the BRIDGE Project

On 30th – 31st October 2019 the Brexit Institute hosted a kick off conference for the BRIDGE Project, in collaboration with the BRIDGE partner institutions- the University of Bolzano/Bozen, the University of Copenhagen and Central European University Budapest.

The BRIDGE Conference took place in Dublin with an opening ceremony on Wednesday 30 October featuring the keynote speech of Ed Sibley (Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland).

This was followed  by seminar 1, chaired by Gerry Kiely (Head of the European Commission Representation in Ireland), featuring Prof. Federico Fabbrini (DCU), Prof. Stefania Baroncelli (Bozano), Prof. Helle Krunke (Copenhagen) and Prof. Renata Uitz (CEU); and by seminar 2, chaired by Prof. Maura Conway (DCU), featuring Dr. Ian Cooper (DCU), Dr. Orsolya Farkas (Bolzano) and Dr. Sune Klinge (Copenhagen).

The Conference continued on Thursday 31 October with seminar 3, dedicated to PhD students, chaired by Dr. Ian Cooper and featuring Simon Droguda (Copenhagen), Anna Krisztian (European University Institute), Sose Mayilyan (DCU) and Magdalena Smieszek (CEU). Seminar 4 was chaired by Prof. Iain McMenamin (DCU) and feature Prof. Bruno de Witte (EUI), Prof. John Erik Fossum (Oslo), Prof. Susan Rottman (Ozyegin) and Prof. Piero Tortola (Groningen).

The Conference concluded with a high-level policy dialogue, moderated by Federico Fabbrini, featuring Ernst Hirsch Ballin (Professor of Law and former Minister of Justice of the Netherlands) and Julie Smith (Professor of Political Science and Member of the UK House of Lords.
